A
fascinating story about how a beloved Chihuahua dog saved elderly people from a
house fire.
One day, late in the evening, when Maria and Alexey were sleeping in their bedroom, they did not notice how the electrical outlet in the living room caught fire. The fire quickly spread through the curtains and furniture, and soon the entire house was engulfed in flames. The only one who heard the crack and smelled the smoke was their beloved little Chihuahua dog named Luna. She immediately realized what was happening and decided to save her owners.
Luna ran to the bedroom door and started scratching and barking as loud as she could. Maria and Alexey woke up from the noise:
Maria: (waking up alarmed) What's that noise? What is happening there?
Alexey: (rising from the bed, worried) Hmm, it seems Luna did something, can you smell the smoke?
Maria: (raising her voice) Yes, the dog is unusually excited. Let's quickly check in case something serious happens!
Alexey: (jumps out of bed, the smell of smoke fills his breath) Damn it, it's smoke! Luna, what have you done?
Maria: (alarmed) What's going on, Alexey?
Alexey: (calmly but decisively) Honey, there’s a fire! Quickly, get dressed and follow me. Hold your hand. Be careful, the smoke can kill us. We need to get out into the street, through the bedroom window. Come on, quickly!
They quickly got dressed and took Luna in their arms. When they tried to get out through the window, it turned out that it was blocked by iron bars. They realized that they needed to go through the main entrance, but that was where the flames were the strongest.
Alexey: (helped Maria wrap herself in a blanket) Okay, hold my hand and follow me. You need to quickly and carefully walk through the bedroom door. The smoke can be dense, you need to breathe shallowly and not panic.
Luna was not at a loss, but contrived to jump onto the floor and show them another way. She led them through the bathroom, where there was a small hatch in the floor that was never used. The dog knew that under the manhole cover there was a basement leading to the exit to the garden.
Having sat down on the escape hatch, Luna attracted attention by barking and unusual behavior. It was simply impossible to ignore the only chance for salvation.
Alexey pulled the ring on the lid with force and the dog was the first to jump into the resulting hole in the floor.
Maria and Alexey followed her. They walked through the basement and out into the fresh air. Everyone was already safe, but their house was completely destroyed.
They hugged Luna and thanked her for saving their lives. They called the fire department and told what happened. Arriving firefighters put out the fire. The rescuers said that Luna was a real hero and that they wanted to give her a medal for her bravery. Maria and Alexey were very proud of their dog and decided that they would take even better care of it than before. They found a new home where Luna had her own room and lots of toys. Everyone lived happily together and never forgot how Luna saved them from the fire.
